FOR COLLECTORS

"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." Edgar Degas

A comprehensive suite of services is available for collectors, ranging from valuations, authentication, and restoration advice to the creation of detailed archives for heirs. These archives contextualise each artwork within a timeline and highlight its significance to the overall aims of a collection. Additionally, tailored guidance is provided regarding optimal dispersal routes and future steps for heirs, ensuring a seamless transition between generations. Assistance is also available for placing artworks in museums where they may be most appreciated, should this path best suit the collector’s wishes.

Our founder, Flo Horswell, is a recognised sculpture expert who serves on, or chairs, vetting and standards committees for more than seven art fairs, including PAD, LAPADA, the Decorative and Antiques Fair, CADA, and Treasure House. With experience spanning specialist fields from the nineteenth century to the present, Flo collaborates with independent experts across mediums. This ensures every advisory relationship is rooted in impartial scholarship and deep industry knowledge.

  • RESTORATION

Restoration can be done respectfully or it can make the pieces look so different that the depth of age is lost. In contemporary works, often the artist’s subtlety can be removed without anyone noticing. We only work with restorers who can ‘restore’ and not ‘repair’ - the difference is subtle but vital for the protection of your work.

  • VALUATION

We are independent. We are realistic.

We work with a variety of exit routes which change as the market does, always with your benefit in mind. We suggest a rounded list of options for dispersal and are experienced with probate.

  • BASES AND FRAMES

Both can make or break the appeal of your work. We have a varied list of suppliers and designers who can help ensure a beautiful outcome. We are aware of safety concerns and the pitfalls of how works interact with the humans in your home.

  • RESEARCH AND CERTIFICATION

Today most artworks need certificates, purchase paperwork and provenance. Even if your work is not yet of a value where the government requires this for sale or exit, increasingly this is required for onward sale.We have an expert group of researchers who can help to place your artwork in its timeline.

  • WEBSITES

Large collections should be treated in the same way as galleries or museums. We design websites which show your collection to allow it to connect with museums, academics and we help to facilitate loan requests.

  • PRINTED DESIGN

With our varied team of in-house and external design partners we can create for you a book or catalogue of your collection. This can be for fun, for your heirs or serve as a way to promote your collection.

  • DIGITAL ARCHIVES

We are experts in creating archives, without which it is impossible to remain in control of your collection. This can be a requirement of insurance but it is vital for your heirs. We can organise photography, research, the tech and the team to do it for you.
