Jill Berelowitz’s has produced a new work for her inclusion in the Treasure House Sculpture Walk 2025 and the result is the ‘Majesty’ a huge Cardoon Artichoke, displayed as a pair in bronze.  The pair are part of a series of works which will lead to the creation of an immortal garden, suitable for any landscape, pulling inspiration from plants and trees which aid humanity either by granting us shade or providing natural healing compounds. 

Berelowitz’s sculptures often focus on the female figure, regeneration, and the interplay between solidity and abstraction. She draws inspiration from both classical sculpture and the tribal art traditions of her South African heritage. Recurring motifs in her work include the tree of life, circles, spheres, and natural forms. Her use of materials such as bronze allow her to explore the effects of light and patina, imbuing her sculptures with life in its purest form.

“I was inspired to sculpt the Cardoon artichoke due to my deep connection to organic forms and the rhythms of nature. Throughout my career, I have been drawn to botanical subjects and natural motifs, often using them as metaphors for life, growth, and resilience. My work frequently explores the interconnectivity of human experience and the natural world, with recurring themes of regeneration, femininity, and the cycles of life.”

Jill maintains a teaching and working studio in the UK and works exclusively with the Morris Singer Foundry, creating pieces in collaboration with their expert team, of exceptional quality and luminous surfaces.
